In the midst of a momentous season of church planting, we sorrowfully share the news of a sudden loss within our Fellowship.
On Friday, September 24, Senior Pastor Andrew Kpah
of Harvest Gianda, Liberia, went to be with the Lord. Leaving behind
his wife, Martha, and their four young children, Andrew was to launch
Harvest Bible Chapel Gianda on October 10, 2010. |
Kirk VanMaanen, our Director of International Church Planting, has worked closely with Andrew and our Liberian churches since 2008. He received word of Andrew's passing from Harvest Paynesville's Senior Pastor Moses Wheigar, who is mourning along with our Liberian churches.
Gianda is situated deeply in the bush of Liberia. When Andrew became ill there were no medical facilities at hand, and his church family
literally had to carry him out to Buchanan, where he passed early the next morning.
Pastor Moses is currently with us stateside and overseeing care for the Kpah family and the church at Gianda in their deep time of need. The five Harvest Bible Chapels in Liberia are rallying their support in tangible ways as Jesus' hands and feet, while the family has prepared Andrew's body and returned to
Gianda for the burial.

>> SEND A PRAYER CARD TO THE CHURCH AT GIANDA
Pastor Moses will return to Liberia in mid-October, and will hand deliver printed copies of your prayers and spiritual encouragements to Harvest Gianda and the Kpah family.
Let's shower them with Christ's love and send him back with sheaves...
Even as we rejoice that Andrew is now living the life we long for--fully present with Christ and more
alive than he has ever been--we mourn with our brothers and
sisters at Harvest Gianda, and especially with Martha and her children.
Please join us in praying for the abiding comfort of the Spirit in their
lives right now, and His provision for their future needs. Pray as well
for the leadership of the church at Gianda, who will move forward with their
launch on October 10.

But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who
are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope.
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will
bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. For this we say to
you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the
coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For
the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice
of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ
will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up
together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we
shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these
words.
